Bob had introduced me to meditation back in 1990. By 2012, as I struggled to watch his life unravel with physical pain I turned to meditation to stay focused, grounded and present in the moment and not let ruminations, anxiety and fantasies take hold. It was never easy, but it gave me moments, however fleeting of an inner calm that I sensed was always present within me.
What is Meditation?
Meditation is a practice that trains attention and awareness by focusing the mind on a particular object, thought or activity like breathing. Its purpose is often to curb reactivity to one's thoughts and feelings, which, though they may be disturbing and upsetting and hijack attention from moment to moment, are invariably fleeting.
