Chapter 12-1: Trust

Bob found this disturbing, the treatment plan, which at first sounded methodical and well designed to locate the focus of his pain now appeared to be random injections into his neck. He was losing trust in his doctor. Looking back, I wonder how this affected the outcome.

Medical research over the past sixty years clearly shows that the relationship between a doctor and patient can affect the outcome of treatments. Patients who believe that their doctors care about their overall wellbeing and address their questions clearly and thoughtfully will have better outcomes in treatment.1
